Objective: Identify elements of a map by creating a TODALSIGs list.

Make and display TODALSIGs Transparency.
Display examples of good maps.
Invite partner pairs to discuss the elements of a good map.
Distribute TODALSIGs worksheet to partner pairs.
Inform students that each letter of the acronym stands for an element of a map.
Invite partner pairs to predict the meaning of each letter of the acronym on the TODALSIGs Worksheet.
Circulate around the room to check on partner pair predictions
Verify predictions by writing in the meaning of each letter on the TODALSIGs Transparency.
  • **Note: The TODALSIG Worksheet could be used later in the unit for assessment.
